A rare early 20th century hat called an "Oklop" worn by men in E. Bontoc Province. They served as convenient bowls for food and water when hunting or traveling. It features small lobes which resemble ears and served to attach the rope fiber chip strap. Shows significant wear and use and has acquired a dark rich patina over the years. One old crack to one side which appears to be native repaired. Other age cracks along the grain which don't affect integrity. For a related example, see page 84 & 85 of "Form and Splendor" by Roberto Maramba, Copyright 1998.
